How and when did you start watching DBZ?

For me it was right when DBZ Kai came out. I saw my two younger siblings watching it and I knew I saw this show somewhere so we all started watching it together. It was a lot of fun sitting together and being excited every week to watch the new episode. I stopped around before Freeza Saga and started watching the old show from when Goku was a kid all the way until Majin Buu within a couple of weeks. (Which made me hate DBZ Kai, the voices and music aren't as good)

So I haven't been a fan as long as you all, but still a fan nonetheless. I think my little sister is a bigger fan than me because she and my brother pretend to be Goku and Vegeta and do kamehas all the time.

What about you guys?

I think DBZ Kai is pretty good, voice-actors and music.

Anyway, I started reading the manga when it was released with a comic book that is released here in Norway. Once I was about 20 books in, I started watching the anime from when Goku was a kid to the end. That would have to be 2004.

They weren't as good as the old ones in my opinion, and the fillers never bothered me, so that's why.

I started watching when i was 7 or 8. My friends were watching it too but never retained any interest like i didto this day. I know what you mean about DBZ Kai a lot of the script is much better but the new voice actors for Bulma, Android 18, Freeza and especially Gohan i just couldn't stand.
When i was a kid i used to do the same thing with friends, trying to become Super Saiyans haha

Thala na Gethu!

I started watchin DBZ when I was 5 via local channels.

Horrible, cheesy, curse-worthy Malaysian Dub.

I watched just for the fights though.

DBZ ended when I was 12. Now I'm 21. Still in love!

Neat, I never heard of anyone starting out with the manga.

I was about 11 years old (that's 14 years ago) and my little brother watched the anime, I guess he's the one who first got me interested. I remember the Android/Cell saga was airing for the first time when I started watching and then it was repeated about 10 times before the Buu saga episodes came, so maybe that's another reason why Android/Cell saga is my favorite.

in 2000 when I was 10 years old. When I saw the commercial on cartoon network I just got this feeling inside that this was something that I had to see and I would be following this for years to come. The feeling was completely right and it's probably the only time I got a feeling like that from any type of series.

Around 200-2001. The Boo saga was airing every day, and I always watched it.

I watched a few episodes when I was like 5 years old, but the only thing I remember is seeing Vegeta in SSJ or ASSJ. I only watched the complete series 3/4 years ago.

@MasterGohan

It's hard to find someone that started with DBZ Kai. Kai was supposed to be a nostalgia thing for us hardcore DBZ fans.

But I started watching around the year 1999-2000 when it aired on YTV here in Canada (I remember the first thing I saw when I flipped the channel was Goku vs Ginyu). I was 4-5 years old at the time and I was hooked on ever since then. Then DBGT and DB aired and I was hooked on that as well. I was pissed off when it finished running in 2004/2005 (not to mention around that time was when TV started to become crap).

I made sure everyday that I would do nothing at 8pm because that's when DBZ was on. Ah... how times have changed.

Novacane for the pain

Whenever DBZ first started airing in the UK, I watched from the very first episode where I didn't really understand what was going on. I guess that was probably around 99/00 most likely, so I would have been around 6 or 7 I think.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

I actually stumbled across DBZ by complete fluke. It was back in 2000, when Toonami was airing the Trunks/Android sagas.

I forgot which show I wanted to watch originally that day, but I kept it on Cartoon Network, and DBZ came on. I fazed in and out of it, but then I sat down and watched the final part of one episode. I decided to catch the following episode the next day, and I became hooked. Almost fourteen years later, I'm still watching it.
